I started in Earlview a few weeks after it first opened. I was in P3 and my teacher was Miss Parks, she a lovely teacher. I had a great time in Earlview Primary, even though I hated the brown and yellow uniform. My favorite teacher was Miss Dixon in P5, she was brilliant, no one wanted to go into her class because she shouted quite loudly, but that was only if you were being naughty. She was excellent. She lived in Jordanstown with her elderly mother and I remember she brought the whole class to her house for a party at the end of P5 and let us all run mad round her houe and garden, she was the best teacher ever. It's lovely to look on this site and see how well the school is doing.

Hello Earlview. Nice to see your website. I used to be a pupil in the 1980's. Doesn't that make me old then! your school is looking great, but it still looks like the school I left. Hoping all your transfer students get to go where they want to. And to the teachers - I know you're doing a great job. My headmaster was Mr McQuillan. It would be nice if you could post some pictures of teachers and pupils pictures of the past - just to see friendly faces and funny clothes and hair styles!

I was a pupil at Earlview in the eighties and loved it! (Except for the brown uniform of course!) Does anyone know what happened to Miss Wright (Mrs Brown), Mr Rea or Miss Dixon? I run in to Mr McQuillan now and then and he hasn't changed a bit. I live in Glengormley with my husband and sons and have had a few stories published over the years. I hope you all know how lucky you are to be at Earlview. My new school does not have a computer suite, a library or practical areas and I really miss them. We do have a huge gym and it is terriffic for PE.

I used to be a former pupil at Earlview. To travel down my memory lane it is quite easy, just visit the hall just off the main entrance and take a look at some of the photos...Im in 11 out of the 13 back then. I was in all the sporting photos except football as the girls were not allowed to play back then. Ive changed alot since then. I started Earlview in P3 after moving to the estate and ive just moved back to the area and ive two children of my own. My son is due to start at the school im wondering if he will be in as many photos as I was. Many thanks to Mr Rea who took them and gave me some copies for my portfolio and also taught me in P7. My son also had some experience of Mr Rea's teaching experience as a stand in teacher at his former school and he took him down memory lane im sure it made him feel old....Well Mr Rea if you looking in ..did it?

I went to your school the first day the doors opened! I joined in P6 and my teacher was the great rugby playing Mr Stirling!! He was the best teacher ever, even though he made you stand with yours arms out, palms up if you misbehaved! I loved the school even with the lovely brown and yellow uniform!! Im glad someone changed that. Mr McQuillan the headmaster was great even with his bad taste in music. I think your website is a great idea for us oldies looking back!!!! HI EVERYONE AT EARLVIEW HAVING A BRILL TIME AT G.H.S

I'm a little bit cold now as I have just returned from Australia where it is very hot and I am now in Sweden where it is cold. I travelled here by plane with Mrs. Millar and Mrs. Carlisle. They are looking after me and taking me to many different places. In this country there are many candles and small white lights on the trees and houses. There was a special celebration on Monday called 'Lucia celebration'. Young girls wear white dresses and carry candles in their hands. One special girl has to wear a crown of candles. It looked very dangerous but she was safe.
The children at this school in Karlskoga are very quiet and work hard. I like them very much.
The children go swimming and ice skating every week and they can play in the forest or climbing frames each day. They start school at 8:00 a.m. and don't finish until 3:00 p.m. The children at this school do not wear uniform and they have to change their shoes when they come inside the school or homes. I am missing everyone at Earlview and I will see you all soon after Christmas. Love from Errol.

Hi Kids , It's me Errol, I'm in Sydney at present. I sent you all a postcard from Singapore but I guess you haven't got that yet. This Mrs. Carson is certainly getting around, I think she needs her wings clipped or maybe that's me. I am going to send you a photograph of me in Underwater World, Singapore. What a day that was for me with all those big fish swimming around. Hope you are not missing Mrs. Carson and me too much, time is going so quickly for us I am so glad I didn't have to fly here, what a journey. I here we are going to a wedding on Monday, so I'm going to have my little feathers clipped. Mrs. Carson and all the family seem to be having beauty appointments so I don't want to be left out. I'm enjoying the weather out here, not too warm at present and guess what? Mrs. Carson is planning to climb Sydney Harbour Bridge on Wednesday. I think I'll take a ride on her shoulder, just in case she passes out, I'll be there to give her the kiss of life. Ha! Hello Earlview,
I used to be a pupil at Earlview and left in 1989 to attend Ballyclare Secondary School. I now live in Stirling, Scotland after leaving Northern Ireland to go to university in Edinburgh in 1996. I work for the Edinburgh Childcare Partnership as the Inclusion Development Worker which means that I help children and young people with disabilities have the same opportunities to play and hang out with their mates as other children.
My favourite teacher at Earlview was Mr. Holmes (p5 teacher) who was very kind and made learning fun and my favourite activity used to be playing netball with Mrs. Brown (who used to be the music teacher).
The teacher which I know the most about would have to be Mrs. Millar because she is my mum!! It was always very strange when she would sometimes have to teach my class.
The photographs on the website are great - the school has changed a lot since I was there. The nursery play area and garden look lovely.

Hi Mr Smyth,
I was at Earlview Primary from about 1978 (the year the school opened?) to 1984. I still remember Miss Wright who taught there (and was always looking for Mr Right as she told us) and Miss Dixon especially. Great to see the school is doing so well! I went on to Ballyclare High School and I'm now a Presbyterian Minister in East Belfast. Keep up the good work!
Oh, by the way, since you have posted such corny jokes I thought I might add to them. Why was the headmaster so worried? Because there were so many rulers in school!

Hi! I'm in P7 in Carryduff Primary. Mr. Smyth used to teach me before he came here. Hope you like it there Mr. Smyth.

Mr Smyth works very hard in his office he does 11+ with us in the old lunch room and he is a good head master.He keeps all the children safe so they do not hurt themselves.

Mr.Smyth is good because he doesnt shout at p4.He doesnt shout at the teachers very much.

Mr.Smyth is very good to me.Hes very nice to some people and he likes to know how people are doing and he makes sure that they are doing well in there work.He likes to know if people are being good or bad in there class.

I am very pleased to have Mr Smyth at my School, he is a very nice person.
